Obituary

Tony Gonzalo Medina of La Junta, Colorado unexpectedly entered into rest, February 10, 2022, in his La Junta home.


He was born December 31, 1935, in Stratford, Texas, to Joe and Mary (Gonzales) Medina in Stafford, Texas. Tony was 86 years of age.


As a young man, he worked construction for George Hill for many years. He married Priscilla Marjorie Blea on October 16, 1954. They had eight children.
Tony enjoyed Sunday drives on backroads to Blue Lake where he liked to fish. He liked camping in the mountains, deer hunting, and picking pinon nuts. Occasionally, the family would travel to Espanola, New Mexico to visit the Chimayo Church.


Tony worked for the City of La Junta for 43 years. He retired in 2002 receiving many certificates of accomplishments.. He will be greatly missed by his wife, kids, grandchildren, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary Medina, son, Tony Medina, daughter, Margret Ortega, son-in-law, George Madrid, and great-grandson, Richard Medina.


He is survived by his wife Marjorie Medina, Lucy Madrid, Karen Madrid, Laure (John) Mink, George (Linsey) Madrid, Mark (Berna) Madrid, Richard (Martha) Medina, Devasia Medina, Laura (James ) Belt, Roxanne (Blake) Rothe, Ricky Lavota, Gilbert Ortega, Teresa Olivas, (Pedro), Santiago (Maribely) Olivas, Jose (Kat) Olivas, Merlinda (Dave) Critchfield, Janet (Chris) Carrillo, Dave Critchfield, Johnny Critchfield, Johnny Medina, Irene (Jeff) Smith, Tony Smith, Phyllis Medina, Danielle (Manuel) Mussenden, Jamie (Vernon) Guerra, Amber Aragon, and many great grandchildren.


A Graveside Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta, Colorado. Father Victor will be officiating.
